The Dramatic Arts Department presents the world premier performance of the children’s musical, “Commotion in the Ocean” this family weekend. Our students have worked hard collaborating on props, hats, costume details, scenic decor, choreography, and more!

Dive into a spectacular underwater adventure where friendship, mystery, music, and laughter collide! When a hilarious tuna befriends a spooky lantern fish and Miss Siphonophore’s dazzling necklace mysteriously disappears, the jellyfish panic, the pirates scheme, the silly shark swims by, and one worried sea snail reminds everyone that the ocean needs our help. Bursting with colorful costumes, lively dancing, catchy tunes, laugh-out-loud comedy, and fascinating ocean facts, this joyful theatrical adventure will have the whole family laughing, learning, and falling in love with the wonders of the sea!

This performance is presented with special arrangement from Stars of Tomorrow Children’s Theater.

Join the ÃÛÌÒÖ±²¥ Dramatic Arts Department for this year’s Fall Musical, “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.”

Winner of the Tony and the Drama Desk Awards for Best Book, “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” has charmed audiences across the country with its effortless wit and humor. Featuring a fast-paced, wildly funny and touching book by Rachel Sheinkin and a truly fresh and vibrant score by William Finn, this bee is one unforgettable experience.

An eclectic group of six mid-pubescents vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, the tweens spell their way through a series of (potentially made-up) words, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing, pout-inducing, life un-affirming “ding” of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Six spellers enter; one speller leaves a champion! At least the losers get a juice box.

A riotous ride, complete with audience participation, “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” is a delightful den of comedic genius. The small cast and unit set make this a perfect option for high schools or community theatres. “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” is a fast-paced crowd pleaser and an instant theatre patron favorite.

Directed by Denis McCourt Stryjewski, Music Direction by Jeff Bell. Conceived by Rebecca Feldman, Additional Material by Jay Reiss, Music & Lyrics by William Finn, Book by Rachel Sheinkin.
