Why do people stay in capsule hotels?
In Japan there are some hotels with very small rooms – or capsules. Each capsule is 1m x 1m x 2m! In the ‘room’ there is a bed, a TV, and a lamp. There isn’t a door and there aren’t any chairs or tables. Each capsule has a mirror but there isn’t a bathroom. You share a bathroom with the other guests outside the capsule. There isn’t a locker in the room – a place to put your clothes and wallet, for example. But there are some lockers in the hotel reception.
