This program is open admission. Instructors will work with your child at their level. Your child will improve and learn new skills, whether they are a beginner or have been designing for years.

A toolbox or sewing box should include: a decent pair of fabric scissors, a stitch/seam ripper, a thimble, a packet of sewing needles, straight pins, paper scissors, and a ruler – please have these in a container, box, or basket of some kind that can be closed and protects you from the sharp-pointed objects. If you are able to provide this, please mark everything with your name and bring it with you. Tools will be provided for you if you don’t have your own.

Extra buttons, beads, lace scraps, extra fabric scraps you would like to use.

You may want to bring your own accessories that can be incorporated into your total look for the fashion show. Items like hats, scarves, shoes, etc.  A camisole or tank top and bike shorts to wear under your outfits makes it easier for the quick changes as well.

Phones and other electronic devices are not allowed during class time in Children’s Center. Day students should not bring a personal device. Residential students should leave devices in their dorm room, or will turn in their device to the teacher during instructional time.

Your student will be following this basic schedule each weekday:

Day students should be dropped off at Children’s Center between 8:15 – 8:25 am
(breakfast is not included for day students)

Residential Students will be walked to breakfast as a group and then to Children’s Center

8:30 am: Morning Sing/Greeting
9:00 am – 11:20 am: Morning Classes (snack provided)
11:30 am – 12:15 pm: Lunch in the Dining Hall (provided for residential and day students)
12:30 pm – 3:45 pm: Afternoon Classes (snack provided)

Day students should be picked up from Children’s Center at 4:00 pm.

Residential students will be walked as a group to afternoon activities with the RA’s.

Day students will be allowed to use the pool on Tuesday – Friday from 4:00 – 5:45 pm with the supervision of a parent or guardian. (Enrolled children only, please. No siblings or friends.) Lifeguards will be present.

Saturday classes are at the discretion of the teacher. Some programs will meet on the Saturday between the two week session. Please watch out for more information from the teacher. Sundays are off for everyone, with no mandatory classes held.

Cat Orlando earned an arts degree with an emphasis in three-dimensional design. She’s been teaching bearmaking during ĂŰĚŇÖ±˛Ą Family Week since 2000 and since 2006, she has taught art, drama, movement and design during the ĂŰĚŇÖ±˛Ą Program in Children’s Center. She is the President of F.A.M.E., a non-profit group that raises funds to assist children who want to take classes in the arts and she has been the Director/Instructor for her dance company called “On Your Feet” dance productions since 1998. She absolutely loves teaching young ones as they discover joy in their creative process, in all genres of art. Her motto: “In art, we don’t make mistakes, we create originals!” .

Jewelry Intensive does not require any type of assessment or portfolio to get into the program. Instructors will work with you at the level that you are. You will improve and learn new skills, whether you are a  beginner or have been making jewelry for years.

• Closed toe shoes for navigating dirt and gravel pathways
• Studio clothing 
• Old clothing or an apron to use during class time
• Hair tie to keep long hair back

We begin by introducing jewelry design and exploring the work of different artists. On the first day, students learn basic techniques through the process of constructing a ring. In the following days, the focus shifts to design: students develop their own project ideas and spend time bringing them to life. Throughout the week, instructors provide demonstrations of additional techniques and steps that support the completion of each student’s individual project.

Fernanda Gaspar is an emerging craftsperson. She was born in Guadalajara, Mexico, and now resides in San Diego, California where she enjoys that it is so close to its bordertown, Tijuana. Gaspar received her Bachelors degree from San Diego State University in Business Administration alongside a minor in Jewelry & Metalwork. She is very passionate about community, often employed by organizations that care for the people and care of the cultivation and sharing of craft. She was the Pocosin Arts Metals Artist in Residence for 2024-2025. Currently, she is producing art in San Diego, teaching at the San Diego Jewelry Academy, Grossmont community college and the San Diego community college system. She also coordinates the Adults ĂŰĚŇÖ±˛Ą Metals session at ĂŰĚŇÖ±˛Ą.

Our fashion design summer programs are open admission. Instructors will work with your child at their level. Students will improve and learn new skills, whether they are a beginner or have been designing for years.

Tools are provided, but if you already have your own, please bring them with you. A toolbox should include a decent pair of fabric scissors, a stitch/seam ripper, a thimble, a packet of sewing needles, straight pins, paper scissors, and a ruler—or at least some of these items that you already have. Please keep them in a container, box, or basket that can be closed and will protect you from sharp-pointed objects.

A sketchbook to use on their own time for drafting ideas and collecting inspirations.

Bring your choice of fabric if you have specific garments that you like to create during this ĂŰĚŇÖ±˛Ą Program.

Your own hats, scarves, gloves, boots etc. can also be incorporated into your total look for the fashion show!

Students spend most of their days in the Fashion Studio working on assignments and creative projects under the guidance of their instructors. A major focus is preparing for the final culmination, the fashion show at the end of the session. Throughout the process, teachers and students work closely together, discussing ideas and developing designs to achieve each student’s individual goals. The studio is filled with excitement and energy as students take meaningful steps toward becoming fashion designers.

Japanese-born Angeleno Kentaro Kameyama is a member of fashion’s “in” crowd as the winner of season 16 of Lifetime’s Emmy-nominated series “Project Runway”. Kameyama clinched the coveted prize with his jaw-dropping runway show at New York’s fashion week, which featured models wearing expertly-tailored clothes inspired by classical music, walking to an original score composed by Kameyama. The fashion-forward collection impressed the show’s judges Heidi Klum, Nina Garcia, Zac Posen and this year’s finale guest judge, Jessica Alba. The collection was a featured spread in Marie Claire magazine. Kameyama is also a classical pianist and composer – Kameyama has a graduate certificate in piano performance from the University of Southern California, an artist diploma from the University of Redlands, Masters of Music from the University of South Carolina, Bachelor of Music from Oklahoma Wesleyan University, and an associate of art in piano performance from Toho Music College in Tokyo.

Reed Gregory is an accomplished fashion designer who has showcased collections at New York Fashion Week and collaborated with renowned institutions such as the U.S. Air Force Academy and the University of Colorado. With a passion for blending modern elegance with bold, innovative designs, Reed Gregory has styled lead actors for film premieres and earned accolades in international design competitions. This summer, Reed looks forward to inspiring the next generation of designers, sharing expertise and creativity in an engaging and dynamic way.

Lindsey March, a California native, developed a passion for the arts at an early age, beginning with dance. After graduating from high school a year early, she joined McDonald Selznick Associates, a leading dance and commercial agency in Los Angeles. Her professional dance career includes appearances in music videos, television commercials, and live performances, alongside her education as a scholarship student at Edge Performing Arts Center. As a founding member of Darling Stilettos, an all-girl rock band formed by Matt Sorum of Guns N’ Roses, Lindsey merged her love for music and fashion by launching a collection of rock-inspired apparel, including screen-printed tees, hoodies, and customized hand-painted denim jackets.

Transitioning from music to fashion, Lindsey became a Senior Stylist at Stitch Fix while also working as a freelance e-commerce and fashion stylist. She enhanced her fashion expertise at a boutique school in downtown Los Angeles, studying Fashion Merchandising and Design under renowned designer Kentaro Kameyama. Lindsey has since held positions with top showrooms and sales agents in Los Angeles, collaborating with notable brands such as Nike Swim & Accessories, Calvin Klein, Timberland, Levi’s, and Tommy Hilfiger. Additionally, she creates custom denim pieces for musicians, including Glen Sobel of Alice Cooper, further showcasing her unique blend of fashion and music.
